When It Rains It Pours…

… but boy we can use the rain.

I just posted photos of Magic Bone at Rodan and the subsequent film shoot for the new Jason Ajemian and the HighLife episode at www.amandaraberphotography.shutterfly.com. This was a fun night!

Cobalt & the Hired Guns is making the journey to play at Knox College this weekend, the next weekend CO&HG headlines the Metro, and somewhere in there I need to find time to make new merch and a video flier for the Metro show. Visit www.cobaltandthehiredguns.com to find out about upcoming shows and get tickets.

ALSO

…WithClaws is back up and running, filling your need for handmade art, gifts, and pet products. Email me for custom orders or questions.

There’ve Been a Few Changes Aroun’ N’yere

Due to recent increased activity in the area of Digital Video production, I’ve separated the combined Images/Video section into two independent pages: Photography and Video.

There’s also a new Design section for all my – you guessed it – designs. Mostly logos and posters so far.

And of course stay tuned to the Blaargg for more fun adventures in AmandaLand.

The fruits of Thundersnow of 2011 yielded the setting for Cobalt & the Hired Guns’ latest music video. It was cold, but a lot of fun, and I think that comes across loud and clear in the video. My one regret is that the camera was shaking a lot from all the laughing. Let’s just pretend that’s artistic technique.

I’ve never edited a project of this magnitude before – I usually stick to short “spots” or animations, but the time and effort was definitely worth it.

See the Video section for the video to “Of Summer” by Cobalt & the Hired Guns.

Ah, It’s Me Again

Well, it’s been a while since I posted News. I’ve been making promo videos for Cobalt & the Hired Guns, we played one of the biggest shows of our lives at Metro last month, and we’re headlining at Cubby Bear in a few weeks. There’s a sort of secret project in the works, but I don’t want to say too much until we’ve actually started filming. Here’s a hint though: Imagine Scooby Doo meets the Monkees. It’s a lot of fun so far.

You can also keep up on my adventures in job hunting on my Blaargg.

Tres Old Fashion HighLife

The photo shooting and editing marathon is almost over. After shooting Tres Hongos at Elastic Arts on Thursday, Jason Ajemian and the HighLife at Heaven Gallery on Friday, Old Old Fashion at Elbo Room on Saturday and then getting on the other side of the camera for a Cobalt and the Hired Guns photo shoot at the Fort fort, I’ve nearly finished editing all the photos.

I’ve also nearly forgotten what it’s like to go outside in the daylight. Edit by day, shoot by night. Such is The Life.

Some of the Tres Hongos, J.A. and the H.L,  and Old Old Fashion pics are posted in the “Images/Video” section or go to http://www.amandaraberphotography.shutterfly.com

Thirty, Shmirty.

Wow. What a great way to turn 30: Surrounded by friends having a good time enjoying the homemade soft pretzels I baked them (Yes! I BAKED!), drinking HighLife and Whiskey. The obligatory Gucci Mane dance party did not get as much participation as I would have liked, the key-tar recording station didn’t happen because my fossil of a four-track has finally gone to that place wherever four-tracks go after they die, but all-in-all, it was a fantastic day. All the birthday wishes made me feel like a super-special lady.

I know a lot of people freak out when they turn 30, but not once did it cross my mind that I’d hit a significant age mile marker. Really I was in a state of amazement at how two years ago, well, it was a rough couple of years, and now looking around at the collection of amazing people who believe in me and support me, man, I feel really lucky. I wish I could tell all those people how much they mean to me, but I still haven’t found an effective combination of words that would really get the point across. But imma keep workin’ on it.

Here’s to a new decade.

the Business

Everything you ever wanted to know about what I do at work is up on the Business Section now. I know it’s thrilling stuff.

In other Business news I renewed my drivers’ license today and it was the most pleasant time I’ve had in a city office. Even though I had to wait in line to be told to go wait in another line then come back to the first line, sit in a waiting area, go out to the hallway to the ATM, back in a line, another waiting area, get a photo taken, wait for it to print, and DONE! All that only took an hour though.

Amazing.

This site is still a baby, but the Music, poemy thingies, and the Angry Letter Department sections have some relevant information in them now.

Check it ouuutttttttttttt.
